
Al Jazeera English to broadcast film called Grandma’s Tattoos about Armenian Genocide
The Arab Al Jazeera English Channel will broadcast Susan Khardalian’s film Grandma’s Tattoos on January 12 at 17:00 Yerevan time, reports “ArmenPress”, in reference to the official website of Al Jazeera.
The film is about Armenian women who tattooed themselves as a sign of belonging to the Armenian ethnic group before the Armenian Genocide perpetrated during the years of World War I.
In one of her interviews, the creator of the film mentioned that the film was about those tattoos and the destinies of the women with those tattoos.
The film was first shown in Fotertown, USA on December 14, 2011. The film was sponsored by the National Association for Studies and Research of Armenia, the ARF-D Boston Sardarabad Committee and the Women’s Association of Armenia.
